On today’s Snack Sunday adventure, I tried out Lotte Waffle Mate. The next few months is filled with adventure and more road trips. This weekend was no exception. I packed a small bag of snacks, a backpack full of clothes and left my house again.

Within the first five minutes of my road trip, I opened Lotte Waffle Mate box. Inside were 2 packages of the product with 3 small waffles inside each package. I love the scent of this product, it smelt like sugary goodness. I took a bite expecting the waffle to be sweet but it had more of a butter Danish cookie taste.

You know, those ones you see during the holidays in the blue circle tins. I love those! The waffle tasted and had a similar texture to the circular cookie with the hole in the middle. But the taste of the waffle is much stronger and the aftertaste was different than the Danish cookie. The aftertaste was much sweeter after a few bites. After finishing the 3 waffles, I did not open the next wrapper. I thought I would eat this box in one sitting but the sweetness of the waffle did not hit me until after I finished one package.

Would I buy this again?

Yes, in a heartbeat. Lotte Waffle Mate had amazing texture and taste that I found to be very pleasant.

This snack is easily portable, sweet, and surprising filling for such a tiny snack. But be warned, this snack is super sweet after eating 3 waffles.

BeautiFriday: Soo Ae Purifying Black Charcoal Mask

Written by Ji | 24 March 2017

On today’s BeautiFriday adventure, I tried out Soo Ae Purifying Black Charcoal Mask.  I have been away from home for over a week and I forgot to pack an essential item…my face mask!  When traveling, it’s always best to bring some of your favorite mask to help keep your face hydrated.

When I got home from my trip, the first thing I did was grab a random face mask, read and followed the instructions and proceeded to unpack 3 luggage’s.  The best part of wearing a face mask is the freedom to do whatever you want for the next 20 minutes.  Normally, I like to relax and enjoy a quiet 20 minutes but today, I needed to unpack and start laundry.

Let’s talk about the product.  The mask had a very light green tea scent, which seem to dissipate while I was putting everything away.  The mask had the same texture like any other mask I have tried on.  Nothing to really note.  After 20 minutes, I took the face mask off, patted the left-over product onto my face, neck and body.  Like most people, I don’t like to waste any product.  About 30 minutes after removing the product, I did notice my skin felt softer and had a nice face mask glow.

Would I buy this again?

I would buy this product again.  The price was affordable, the scent was pleasant, my face felt moisturized and had a nice glow after using the face mask.  I would have liked the scent to have lasted longer but other than that, I could not find anything I didn’t like about this mask.

Snack Sunday: Yes! Chips! Shrimp Chips

On today’s Snack Sunday adventure, I tried out my last road trip snack, Yes! Chips! Shrimp Flavor.  Honestly, I knew I was going to love this before I even opened the bag.  A couple of weeks ago, I tried out the sweet potato chips from Yes! Chips! and loved the flavor and texture of their product.  Also, shrimp chips have always been one of my favorite snacks when I was younger.  So I had very high hopes for this product and I was not disappointed.  The flavor brought back memories of my childhood, always begging for the shrimp or BBQ flavor chips while my sisters always tried to steal them.

I love the lightness, the light crunch and the way it melts in your mouth.  I love everything about this product from texture to taste.  It has a nice light shrimp flavor that doesn’t linger too long, so the aftertaste is light to mild.  The scent however, is stronger then it’s flavor.  It’s not a heavy scent, but when you open the bag, the people around you might or might not appreciate the scent.

Would I buy this again?

Yes, I would.  I would buy this and eat it every day.  It won’t be a healthy decision, but it would be a yummy one.  Yes! Chips! have won me over again.  I might have to buy all the flavors to see if there is one I don’t like.  Of course, it’s for the sake of the article and not because I have fallen in love with this brand.  Thankfully, I do snack reviews, so I don’t feel too guilty.

Have you tried Yes! Chips!?  What flavor was your favorite?

Snack Sunday: Jinju Premium Fish Cake Sausage

For today’s Snack Sunday road trip adventure, I tried out Jinjo Premium Fish Cake Sausage.  I’ve seen this type of product in many dramas.  Most recently in “Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo”.  I just love the way those weightlifting girls eat and admire their strong friendship.  And with their awesome Korean BBQ advice, I thought, why not?  Let’s give this snack a try.

I was a little apprehensive to try out this product because it’s basically a fish cake with cheese, in the shape of a sausage.  I went to my local market and looked for sausage sticks but only found fish cake sticks.  Whether or not this was the same type Kim Bok-Joo and her friends tried, I decided to give it a go because this was the closest thing I’m going to get that’s similar to what she ate.  At least, I hope it’s similar.

The product comes in a box, with 10 fish cake sausages inside.  There is a red strip on the product, you peel the strip, fold the top down and continue to pull the wrapper off.  As I stared at the fish cake sausage with caution, I contemplated if I should nix this review and review the Yes! Chips! first.  But I convinced myself, you have to try it at least once.  You never know until you try, right?  I stared at the product for a few more seconds and decided to touch it.  It looked and felt like string cheese.  Which, in my book, is not a bad thing. I closed my eyes and took a bite.  The taste and texture was a bit weird.  I felt like was something you will have to get use too before you can truly appreciate the product.  After finishing one stick, I could not, for the life of me, write anything down.  Which meant, I had to suck it up and try another one.  After opening the second stick, I didn’t hesitate this time to eat the fish cake sausage.  After slowly chewing the product, it really does taste like fish cake with a light flavor cheese.  It’s still a weird texture and taste, but it’s something I could get use too.

Would I buy this again?

Nope.  Honestly, it doesn’t taste too bad but it doesn’t taste that great either.  I love fish cake. I love it in soup, with rice, mixed with other food… but with cheese, in sausage form… I’ll pass.

BeautiFriday: The Face Shop Rice Water Bright Cleansing Foam

beautiFRIDAY: The Face Shop Rice Water Bright Cleansing Foam

On our last BeautiFriday adventure, I wrote about The Face Shop Rice Water Bright Cleansing Oil.  For this week, I will be discussing the second part of the double cleanse method using The Face Shop Rice Water Bright Cleansing Foam.  To check out part 1 of the article, please click here: beautiFriday: The Face Shop Rice Water Bright Cleansing Light Oil .

To use the foam cleanser, I squeeze a pea size amount, rub the product in between my hands and then apply the product to my face (in circular motion).  This foam cleanser has a slightly different texture than some of the other foam cleansers I have used.  It has a nice silky consistency, so it doesn’t “foam” as much as other cleansers do.  However, I don’t find that to be an issue for me.  A foam cleanser can be soapy, thick, silky or foamy.

If you use this product right after the oil, you should not have any problems rubbing the product onto your face for that length of time.  You should not wash the oil away before applying the foam.  After two minutes of rubbing the foam into my face, I would fill up 2 bowls (so I don’t waste water), and wash my face for 4 minutes (2 minutes warm water and 2 minutes cold water).  This helps seal in everything and is great for your pores.  I know 4 minutes seem like an excessive amount of time to rinse off your face but oil and water do not mix.  Like when you are frying crab pancakes, you don’t want to add water to oil.  Trust me, don’t do it.  Your stove will be messy, you will end up screaming for help, and crying because the oil splatter is all over your body and outfit.  4 minutes is the perfect amount of time to get rid of the oil and foam off your face.  You want a nice, squeaky clean face for the next part of your routine.

The Face Shop did a wonderful job with oil and foam cleanser.  The foam cleanser has the same scent as the oil and will also brighten up your complexion.  I tried using one without the other and the results were not impressive.  But when used together they complement each other very well.

Would I buy this again?

Yes, I would.  The price for both products together are under $20 on amazon and they both lasted a little over 3 months.  The both products did remove all the makeup and gave my skin a nice bright complexion.

Side Note:  When starting a new regime, please note your skin might break out.  When I first started experimenting with Korean Skincare, I had a lot of issues.  But now that I have been doing this for years, I am able to find a right balance.  I didn’t see a difference using the double cleanse method right away.  It took about a month to see some improvement, but by the third month, my skin complexion was noticeably brighter.  Products do not work overnight, to see a difference, commitment is needed.  Good luck finding the best balance for your skin.

Snack Sunday: Scorched Rice

Snack Sunday: Scorched Rice

Sundays are normally my day to KDrama and chill, but today is not that type of day.  My family decided to go on a road trip this weekend and actually gave me a fair amount of warning.  My dad usually wakes us up at 4 a.m. and tells us we have 10 minutes to pack a suitcase.  When I was younger, I always had one packed, just so I could sleep a few extra minutes.  Since he told me a few days before, I went to my local market to pick up some “road trip snacks”.  With dramas fresh on my mind, I picked up snacks from “Hwarang”, “Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-joo” and another chip from Yes! Chips!.  For today’s Snack Sunday adventure, I choose our loveable Chief Instructor favorite snack from “Hwarang”, Scorched Rice.

Scorched rice is pretty much burnt rice.  Like when you make rice on the stove and bottom gets overcooked.  I took a look at the back of this package, to see if they added any type of favoring, but it simply says scorched rice.  I opened the bag and took a bite of the product.  The flavor and texture are very similar to when I make rice and forget I was cooking it.  If you a familiar with burning your rice like I am, this product is the exact duplicate in favor. It has a nice crunchy texture, but the rice tasted a bit stale.  Because this is a package product, the rice isn’t fresh.  Leaving the constancy and texture to be less desirable.

Would I buy this again?

No, not really.  I actually like the taste and crunchy texture of scorched rice.  I think it’s amazing when you added other ingredients too it, like grated cheese or some seasoning.  But I prefer fresh accidental scorched rice versus the packaged product.
