Snack Sunday: CW Bronoir Brownie Chocochip Cookie

On today’s Snack Sunday adventure, I tried out CW Bronoir Brownie Chocochip Cookie.  I’ve never been one to buy store bought cookies.  I bake several times a week but this week I was feeling a bit lazy and decided to buy some snacks and desserts instead.  I haven’t had the chance to do a KDrama marathon in a while, so this weekend was the weekend to KDrama and chill.

Snack Sunday: CW Bronoir Brownie Chocochip Cookie

After I set up my drama, I opened up the box and squealed with delight.  If you don’t know by now, I love individual packaged sweets.  They are convenient, easy to share with people, and they just make life just a little bit easier.  But what got me really excited was the fact that it was not only individually packaged but it came with a little carton box.  This is perfect for my work area.  I can put this in a drawer or have it nicely displayed on the top of my desk.  Now if this product were in individual boxes (to prevent it from being squished), I would be in the car, driving to the market and buying all their inventory.

I finally opened the wrapper and examined the hybrid brownie cookie.  The outer texture felt weirdly smooth and the top looked a little burnt. I took a bite of CW Bronoir Brownie Chocochip Cookie.  My smile disappeared from my face.  I knew it was going to be dry based on the outer texture and the burnt look of the cookie but this dryness was on a different level.  After a few minutes of coughing and deciding whether or not I would actually finish the small cookie, I popped the snack into my mouth so I could give it a proper chance.  I instantly regretted that decision.

The cookie was dry and lack any flavor minus the burnt aftertaste it left behind.  The half of teaspoon of brownie inside the cookie was no better.   I spent a good amount of time, trying to figure out what I want to say without saying it so harshly.  But honestly, I could not find one.

Would I buy this again?

No.  I’m so disappointed.  I was so in love with the packaging and wished so hard that this would be my go to work snack.  But sadly, I now have 13 individually wrapped cookies left and I have no idea what to do with them.

Snack Sunday: Nongshim Honey Twist Snack

Written by Ji | 23 April 2017

It’s another beautiful warm beach day, so I decided to go on an adventure.  I packed my bag with essentials and a couple of treats and headed out. On today’s Snack Sunday adventure, I tried out Nongshim Honey Flavored Twist Snack.

This snack had very light roasted sweet smell and a nice crunchy airy texture.  This product reminded me of a fried twist snacks I use to get when I was younger.  Except smaller, thinner and crunchier.  I could only eat about less than half the bag before I started to feel overwhelm by the sweetness of the product.  But before I started to feel overwhelm, I was already full from about two handfuls of the snack.  This delicious snack, tasted and felt more like bake goods than a simple snack.  The honey aftertaste does linger, so I would recommend having a drink of water to wash away the strong aftertaste.  And I would also recommend some wet wipes to wipe away the slightly sticky residue the product leaves behind.

Would I buy this again?

Yes, I would.  Nongshim Honey Flavored Twist Snack was a delightful snack that I truly enjoyed.  Next time, I would definitely stick by the 18 pieces serving size.  That way I do not feel overpowered by the sweet snack.

BeautiFriday: Erborian Bamboo Waterlock Mask

BeautiFriday: Erborian Bamboo Waterlock MaskOn today’s BeautiFriday adventure, I tried out the Erborian Bamboo Waterlock Mask.  This product was a random purchase, when the lady at my local Sephora store convinced me this product would change my life.  That’s a pretty big claim, but Sephora has a great return policy and they even sent me a coupon rewarding me for being a member of their club.  How could I not buy it?

I have my Korean skincare routine down pat, so I don’t really change it up.  But if this product was as good as the lady claims, then I’m game.  After my nightly routine, I followed the direction on the back and applied a small amount to my face.  The texture is similar to any night mask but the scent was amazing.  The light notes of floral/plant scent matched the name of the product and left a nice lingering scent.

When I woke up in the morning, I washed off the excess residue and loved the way my skin felt.  Subtle, fresh, and rejuvenated.  I usually do reviews after several weeks to a month, because you rarely see any improvement overnight but this mask gave overnight results.  My skin was softer, felt moisturized and smoother.   And according to the instructions, I should do this once or twice a week.  I can even use this as a 10-minute mask.  Which makes me feel better since this product is in the midrange price (about $43).

Would I buy this again?

Yes, I would.  Like I said, I don’t normally change my routine, but this mask is amazing.  Erborian Bamboo Waterlock Mask is a great product to help dry skin feel moisturized.  And since I do not have to use it nightly, I could make this little jar last a long time.

Snack Sunday: Crown Corn Cho

Snack Sunday: Crown Corn Cho

On today’s Snack Sunday adventure, I tried out Crown’s Corn Cho.  As I was doing my bi-weekly grocery shopping, something caught my eye.  I’m quite familiar with the snack isle at my local market, so when I see something new, I must have it.  I picked up Crown’s Corn Cho from the shelf and examine the bag.  On the back it states, “Corn Cho, Fondue snack by dipping savory corn snack into sweet hazelnut chocolate” and “Upgraded Corn Cho with sweet chocolate and savory hazelnut”.  They had me sold at fondue.  Hoping this was a better product than there wafers, I toss the bag into my cart.

After putting all the groceries away, I decided to take a ten-minute break and try the unique snack.  I opened the bag and as always, smelt the product.  It took me a good minute to figure out that scent.  It smelt like chocolate box cake mix.  First the product sold me at fondue and now it’s tempting me with their sweet scent.  I popped one into my mouth.  The product dissipated surprisingly fast, that I could not taste the flavor.  I kept tossing these little puffs into my mouth but I couldn’t come up with anything noteworthy except the flavor had a hint of hazelnut.  After dissolving, the left-over remnants of the product end up on the top of my mouth.  I tried eating the chocolate face up and down, and it still ended up on the top part of my mouth.  I found it quiet bothersome. After eating about half the bag, I could finally taste a fuller hazelnut flavor.  The after taste is pretty light but I didn’t expect much of an after taste with such a light tasting product.  The texture of Crown Corn Cho is very similar to Cheetos Puffs and just like any product with this texture, it will leave your mouth dry.  I would recommend having a drink ready when snacking on Crown Corn Cho.

Would I buy this again?

Probably not.  I can see why people like this snack.  It’s a snack that has a nice puff texture and a light hazelnut flavor.  It’s fun to pop into your mouth and before you know it, half the bag is gone.  For me, the snack lacked flavor but I will give it extra points for the texture and scent.  I love my snacks overly sweet and/or savory, but if you are looking for a light flavor sweet snack, I would recommend this for you.

Snack Sunday: Haitai Sindangdong Tteokbokki

On today’s Snack Sunday adventure, I tried out Haitai Sindangdong Tteokbokki.  For this week, I needed something that I could easily put in my purse and something that resembled food because during conventions, I tend to forget to eat.  Except for samples, because free food is always welcome.

This delightful snack was more sweet than spicy.  It had a nice sweet after taste with just a bit of heat at the end. The product did remind me of a crunchy, fried but hallow tteokbokki.  Which means Haitai Sindangdong Tteokbokki flavor was on point with the Tteokbokki I usually make.  I like my spicy rice cakes sweet with a little bit of spicy.

Would I buy this again?

Yes, I would.  The bold and sweet flavor of Haitai Sindangdong Tteokbokki had me hooked.  I kept wanting to indulge in the heavy calorie snack.

But would I bring this item to my next convention… probably not.  It has a slight stickiness to the product and left some seasoning behind on my hands.  Not exactly the friendliest food to have when surrounded by people.  Wet wipes will be needed.

BeautiFriday: Whamisa Organic Sea Kelp Facial Sheet Mask

Written by Ji | 10 March 2017

Whamisa Organic Sea Kelp Facial Sheet Mask

On today’s BeautiFriday adventure, I wanted to introduce you to an old favorite, Whamisa Organic Sea Kelp Facial Sheet Mask.  This face mask is amazing.  Most people want to see a product work instantly and give instant results.  This product will do just that.  For $14 on Glow Recipe, this product will give you instant satisfaction.  I hope I didn’t scare anyone off with that price. I know most people only want to spend $1-$2 per mask, even mentioning a $5 mask would seem unconventional.  But let me tell you why this mask is worth every bit of the cost.

I know most face mask will instantly show some sort of results, whether it’s an illusion of a brighter face or give the look or impression of a more moisturized face. But in a few hours, your face is back to normal, the “glow” is gone, leaving you with a dull and sometimes dry skin.  My skin is sensitive and when the temperature changes, so does my skin.  This sheet mask rejuvenates, hydrates, and produces a glow like no other face mask in its price category.   My skin felt and looked hydrated for days.

Let’s talk about the product. The Whamisa Organic Sea Kelp Facial Mask come with a top and bottom part.  The product is thicker than most face mask and I did have a little bit of difficulty molding it to my face.  And since it is heavier mask, I did have to sit back a bit, so the mask would stay on my face.  Which is not a bad thing, relaxing while wearing a face mask is one of my favorite things to do.  The scent, if you are sensitive to smells, this might be an issue.  This mask has a strong kelp/ocean scent.  The smell never dissipated the whole time I wore that mask.   This face mask was so packed with serum, the texture was a lot slimier than other face mask.  Again, not a bad thing.  Because the product is “drenched” in fermented sea kelp and bamboo serum, is probably why the product works so well.

Would I buy this again?

Yes, I would.  This face mask is worth the price.  If your skin is looking a bit dull and needs a pick me up, I would recommend this product.  This face mask nourishes your face with fermented sea kelp and bamboo serum, leaving your skin hydrated and dewy.
