Dear Unnie,

I’m 30 years old and my friends make me feel embarrassed at the fact that I’m into kpop. How do I get them to understand that kpop is life?

I’m a grown woman and have earned the right to invest my free time and disposable income however I choose. If that happens to be in support of talented young men from Korea, who sing, dance and act; that’s my prerogative.

By the time any of us hit our 30’s and up we have enough on our plates with jobs, significant others, families, bills, etc that finding something that makes you happy is excuse enough for your friends to leave you be. If they don’t understand then politely point out their happy places and explain that this is yours. Worse comes to worse, flash some fan service photos at them… they might end up joining the fandom.

Snack Sunday: Lotte Dream 56% Dream Cacao

On today’s Snack Sunday adventure, I tried out Lotte Dream 56% Dream Cacao.  Once again, this snack was not planned.  I honestly thought I was buying gum.  While I was putting my groceries on the conveyor belt, I grabbed an item that looked similar to the gum I buy.  The gum usually comes in a white container.  For some reason, I did not look at the color of the package nor the picture.  When I got to the car, I absentmindedly opened the container and was completely shocked that I was eating chocolate.  It took about a good five minutes to calm myself from laughing.

As I mentioned before, the packing is pretty much the same as Lotte’s gum container, except in a different color.  You rip off the little tab, and pop the top right off.  The reason I like this container is because it’s so easy to find the gum in my purse.  I pretty much carry everything but the kitchen sink in my bag, and if I could pack that, I probably would.   The chocolate itself wasn’t too sweet and had a fruity chocolate aftertaste.  The texture wasn’t smooth or creamy but had a slightly grainy texture.  (Note: It is hot right now where I live, so the texture could be different.  Temperature can change chocolate).

Would I buy this again?

Maybe.  I do love the container, and how it will protect my chocolate from getting squished in my bag.  But this chocolate is suited for someone who wants a mild flavor, with a fruity chocolate aftertaste.  I’m impartial when it comes to dark chocolate, I prefer a rich creamy milk chocolate flavor.  But surprisingly, I do like this dark chocolate.  I could eat this on days when I want something not overly sweet but don’t have the calories to spare.  I could eat one bite size chocolate piece and be happy.

Snack Sunday: Samlip Nuneddine Italian Snack

Snack Sunday: Samlip Nuneddine Italian Snack

On today’s Snack Sunday adventure I tried out Samlip Nuneddine Italian Snack.  Most days, I usually have tea in the afternoon with a light biscuit type snack.  I usually take those moments to have some me time and enjoy a relaxing quiet moment.  While I was looking for my normal tea snack, I happen to stumble upon this snack by accident.  Someone accidently put this on the wrong shelf.  After pondering for a moment, I decided it was destiny for me to try this treat.

After setting up my tea, I opened the nicely packaged box and inside was 10 individually wrapped delectable treats.  The product was flakey and airy.  A drink of some sort is definitely recommended as it is hard to swallow without some sort of liquid.  This snack was light tasting and perfect for someone looking for a lightly sweeten snack.  The caramel apricot topping was  a little chewy but is the perfect texture to mix with the flakiness of the product.

Would I buy this again?

Maybe.  As most people know, I love a sweet snack and this snack is perfect for those who don’t like too much sweets.  I did enjoy the mix of texture and the combination of apricot and caramel and when you drink this with coffee, it perfectly complements each other.

BeautiFriday: Mamonde Wannabe Cushion Tint

BeautiFriday: Mamonde Wannabe Cushion Tint

On today’s BeautiFriday adventure, I tried out Mamonde Wannabe Cushion Tint in the color Fillmore.  I loved the last Mamonde product I tried, so I had high expectations for this cushion tint.  The packaging was simple.  Just plastic, wrapped around the product.  I do appreciate how a product is packaged, so I was a tiny bit disappointed.  Not to mention, I felt like Mamonde was a little confused on how to present this Cushion Tint.  It felt like they had the “mullet idea”.  Business in the front and party in the back.  I just don’t find using those two fonts aesthetically pleasing.  But those are simply personal issues and has nothing to do with what kind of product this is.  After all, you can never judge a book by its cover.

While I felt it lacked in the packaging department, this Cushion Tint had a nice bold color with a creamy consistency.  When I first applied the product, it glided smoothly and had a nice rich color.  This is a nicely scented fruity product that does not feel too heavily perfumed.  My favorite thing about this product is the lip applicator.  During the day, I blended out my lips, to make the color less dark and perfect for spring.  At night, I reapplied for a nice bold mauve pink color.  I really appreciate any products that are 2 in 1.  I carry a lot of makeup in my kit, and if one product can do 2 colors.  I am one happy lady.

Would I buy this again?

Yes, I would.  This affordable price lip product has a high quality feel.  With the lip applicator on the bottom, you are able to wear this cushion tint during the day, and bold it out for the night.  If Momonde could make the packaging sleeker or just remove that pattern on the bottom, I would be one happy camper.

Snack Sunday: Ghana Extra Cacao Mild

Written by Ji | 14 May 2017

Snack Sunday: Ghana Extra Cacao MildOn today’s Snack Sunday adventure, I finally get to try Ghana chocolate.   There have been so many chocolate giving holidays, that my local store could not keep up with the demand.  So, when I saw this chocolate bar near the check out, I greedily grabbed a few and put them into my cart.  Fun fact: Did you know Park Bo Gum is the recent (2017) endorser of this chocolate?  And he is also the first male endorser for Ghana since its debut in 1977?  Pretty impressive, right?

Snack Sunday: Ghana Extra Cacao MildThe moment I got home, I put the groceries down and immediately went to eat my first bar.  I do like the way Lotte packaged the product.  It wasn’t in a simple wrapper, instead they used a heavier paper material to make the chocolate look more expensive with their packaging.  When I turned the chocolate bar around, I noticed there were directions to open the packaging.  Now normally, if I want chocolate, I just tear the wrapper off.  But for the sake of the article, I will obey the cardstock packaging.  First I ripped off tab one, then when I pulled tab two, the whole backing came off and now the packaging looked like an envelope with chocolate inside.  I love the presentation of this chocolate bar.  With no further instructions. I tore open the foil wrapper, and took a bite.  This is a very sweet, creamy chocolate.  I don’t think I could finish this whole bar in one sitting.  Which is a good thing.  Just one square, was enough to fulfill my chocolate craving.

Would I buy this again?

Yes, I would.  Ghana chocolate has a nice rich taste for such a cheap price.  I would recommend this snack to anyone looking for a super sweet, creamy chocolate treat.

Snack Sunday: Melon Flavored Milk

Snack Sunday: Melon Flavored Milk

On today’s Snack Sunday adventure, I tried out a Melon Flavored Milk drink.  It’s another hot day, so I wanted something refreshing and melon flavored.  Sadly, when I went to the store, they were out of my favorite icy snack.  I decided to improvise and buy a Melon Flavored Milk and freeze it.  But I left one out, so I could review the snack as it was intended.  As a drink.

As I took my first sip, I noticed the product had a nice smooth milky texture, with a strong melon taste.  I love melon, so this refreshing melon milk drink was delicious.  The melon flavor doesn’t last long after taking sip.  The flavor of powdered milk overpowers the melon flavor, leaving the after taste to be more of a milk drink with a light hint of melon.  After drinking the product in a few seconds, I notice the melon flavor seems to be fighting the powered milk to be the dominate flavor but is again, overpowered by the powered milk.

And if you are curious how it tasted frozen.  It was yummy.  I just poured the product into silicon ice bar trays, froze them for a few hours, and now I have a few cold creamy treats to help me fight off the hot weather.

Would I buy this again?

Yes, I would.  The product does taste like powered milk and I did feel like it overpowered the drink but the melon milky taste was delicious.  It’s a flavor I love and found the drink or frozen treat to be an enjoyable way to fight the summer heat.

BeautiFriday: Mamonde Creamy Tint Color Balm Intense

Written by Ji | 05 May 2017

beautiFRIDAY: Mamonde Creamy Tint Color Balm Intense

With the nice summer temperatures coming in, I decided to buy a couple of Mamonde lip products to go with the fun and sunny weather.  For today’s BeautiFriday adventure, I tried out my first Mamonde product, the Creamy Tint Color Balm Intense in Velvet Red.  When I swatched the color at the store, I noticed it wasn’t a “velvet red” I am accustomed with.  It wasn’t a deep red, but more of mauve reddish color.

The next day, I did my normal beauty routine and prepped my lips to try my new lip product.  After opening the product, I gave the product a quick sniff and noticed there was no scent to this lip tint balm.  I applied the product as a liner first, then proceeded to fill in the rest of my lips.  Mamonde Creamy Tint Color Balm glided smoothly across my lips, and I was impressed with the color and texture of the product.  I still wouldn’t call this a “Velvet Red” color, unless they were referring to the texture than I would agree.  It does have a nice velvet feel.  The lip product is matte but not drying.  Since I do have darker lips, the swatch on my arm versus my lip is completely different.  It has a nice medium red color with hints of pink in the sunlight.  While I was doing errands, I took another selfie, and noticed the color looked more deep red with their lighting.  By the end of the day, there was hints of orange.  So depending on lighting, this lip product could be different shades.

What I liked most about this tint balm was how nicely the product faded.  For the purpose of the article, I didn’t’ touch up my lips, just to see how resistant this product was.  This product does transfer while eating or drinking and the color does fade.  But it fades nicely and still looked like I had a softer color lip tint on.  When you’re busy and on the go, it’s hard to touch up your face, so this lip tint balm gets an extra point.

Would I buy this again?

Yes, I would!  Mamonde Creamy Tint Color Balm Intense had a nice velvety texture that helps the product glide smoothly on your lips.  The product leaves yours lips matte but the balm keeps the product from drying out your lips.  The color stayed on my lips for a few hours without the fading.  But even when it did fade, it faded beautifully into a lighter red pinkish color.  I am officially a fan of this product.
