Snack Sunday: NONGSHIM Banana Kick Banana Snack

Written by Ji | 30 July 2017

Snack Sunday: NONGSHIM Banana Kick Banana SnackDuring a recent VLIVE chat (last week), CROSS GENE members Kim Sangmin and Kim Yongseok discussed group activities while they ate snacks.  Yongseok was very careful not to show the front of the bag, but judging by the back, it is NONGSHIM Banana Kick Banana Snack.  I don’t have the exact one he is holding, but I do have the one above.  I bought a few different snacks from my local market and was super excited to try a snack the maknae of CROSS GENE was eating.  As a CANDY (CROSS GENE fanclub), I love to try anything my loveable boys promote or indirectly promote.

Snack Sunday: NONGSHIM Banana Kick Banana SnackI opened the bag and was immediately hit with a strong banana scent.  If you love bananas, you will love this.  This product smelled like a fresh ripped banana.  I took a moment to enjoy the delicious scent and hoped this product taste as good as it smells.  I was pleasantly surprised by the texture and taste. This sweet snack had the texture of Cheetos Puffs with a solid banana taste.  I felt like I was eating a dehydrated banana. The outside of the puff had a light sweet glaze on the product that gave the product a nice sugary kick.

Would I buy this again?

Yes, I would.  This super sweet banana puff is a mix between a snack and dessert.  Either way, I loved the texture and taste.  If I had ice cream, I would love to try to use this snack as a topping or if I’m feeling a bit gluttonous, I would use it as a spoon.

beautiFRIDAY: TONYMOLY I’m REAL Lotus Mask Sheet

beautiFRIDAY: TONYMOLY I’m REAL Lotus Mask Sheet

Welcome back to the second part of my TONYMOLY face mask review.  On today’s BeautiFriday adventure, I tried out TONYMOLY I’m Real Lotus Mask Sheet.  On the previous article, I wrote about how I loved the scent and thickness of the TONYMOLY face mask.  I am hoping that those two great qualities will carry on to this mask.

After prepping my face for the mask sheet, I tore open the package and was happy to see it had the same thickness as the previous mask sheet but the scent was very light.  During the 20 minutes I had the face mask on, occasionally I would smell a very light floral scent.  But the scent will come and go and would only last for a second or two.   When I first applied the mask, I was concern about the quantity of serum the mask will provide.  Unlike the Green Tea mask, this one is dripping serum.  It was leaking off my chin for the first minute.  I had the keep applying the dripping serum to my neck, so I wouldn’t waste any of the product.  Even though the mask is dripping serum, the mask feels somewhat dry.  I honestly think it’s because of the thickness of the mask and not because the mask itself is dry.

After 20 minutes, I applied all the left-over serum from the mask to my arms, hands, legs and feet.  I am impressed with how much serum this package has.  And the glow it provided to my face wasn’t too bad either.  For brightening or luminating sheets, I don’t expect much.  They moisturize your face but after any face mask, your face will always have that “glow”.  But after an hour of running errands, my bare face (with sunscreen) still had that bright glow.

Will I but this again?

Yes.  I am revising my maybe to a full yes.  If the next few sheets I receive are filled with serum like the Lotus Mask sheet, I will continue to use this brand.  But if they lack serum like the Green Tea one, I will have to pass.  I really do love the thickness and the sturdy feel to these masks.  Most face mask are the same.  With thousands of them out there, a product needs to stand out with their formula.  I can see why this mask is a favorite with so many consumers.  TONYMOLY face mask impressed me with their Green Tea and Lotus face mask serum.  So much so, I ordered more before I even finished writing this article.

Snack Sunday: Nongshim Shin Ramyun Noodle Soup, Gourmet Spicy

On today’s Snack Sunday adventure, I tried out Nongshim Shin Ramyun Noodle Soup, Gourmet Spicy.  Last week, I reviewed my favorite late night snack; this week I will be reviewing my favorite ramen to help me get over a cold.  I’ve been working non-stop with long hours on a project and now that it’s finally over, my body has officially shut down.  I’m exhausted, weak and stuffy.  My remedy for getting well, is to have a little R&R and some spicy food.

I love Nongshim instant noodles.  They are one of my favorite brands.  I love the thickness of their noodles and their spices always hit the spot.  This product has the best heat to make me sweat just a little where it helps me breathe again.   If you can’t handle spicy, I would avoid this product.  If you only use half the spice packaging, you are truly missing out on the full bold spicy flavor that this product has to offers.

Would I buy this again?

Yes, I would.  Nongshim Shin Ramyun Noodle Soup has a strong, bold spicy flavor with the perfect kick to make this ramyun one of my favorite snacks.

G-Dragon ACT III: M.O.T.T.E³ 2017 Tour in San Jose – Review & Recap

by: Dee

South Korean pop star G-Dragon, or Kwon Ji Yong performed at the SAP Center in San Jose, California last Friday night.  G-Dragon has slowly been solidified himself in the ranks of celebrities as both the leader of Big Bang and as an style icon in the music and fashion world. He has even recently become the ambassador of Chanel. Big Bang has started their hiatus while the members take their turns serving their nation, G-Dragon share of himself in his latest self-titled album, Kwon Ji Yong.

The concert is part of his solo world tour, ACT III: M.O.T.T.E³, which kicked off on June 10, 2017 in Seoul. M.O.T.T.E stands for Moment Of Truth The End.  ACT III: M.O.T.T.E³ is about fans connecting with G-Dragon and getting a closer and more personal look at the Kwon Ji Yong side of him. The San Jose concert was a mind-blowing visual and audio experience of Kwon Ji Yong’s life in the spotlight told via three ACTs through the use of pyrotechnics, on point choreography and vulnerable yet compelling vocals.

From the moment the show kicked off, an hour late, the predominant color scheme seemed to be a bloody red that represented going back to the roots of Kwon Ji Yong’s birth. The concert starts off with an impressive pyrotechnic filled version of Heartbreaker. Even people seated felt the heat from the pyrotechnics.

G-Dragon was absolutely beaming as he introduced himself as Kwon Ji Yong to the audience and welcomed everyone to his show. The audience went wild as he launched into his intro for A Boy.

The Band Six

As an artist G-Dragon is full of swag and effortless energy yet oddly vulnerable as he performed, with a few exceptions, tracks from his discography in chronological order. Since the tour had a live band, The Band Six, fans were treated to remixed songs from One Of A Kind and Coup d’Etat before performing Kwon Ji Yong in its entirety.

The final encore of his 2017 single Untitled, 2014 was the most potent and humanizing song performed. He wandered off the stage as he interacted with the audience. He seemed so at ease and carefree.

Snack Sunday: Nongshim Soon Noodle Soup (Veggie)

Snack Sunday: Nongshim Soon Noodle Soup (Veggie)

I have been working on a project the last few weeks and it has been keeping me busy.  Sometimes I forget to eat or I eat way past midnight.  For today’s Snack Sunday adventure, I dedicated it to one of my favorite late-night snacks, Nongshim Soon Noodle Soup.  There is something about eating ramen at night that brings joy to my heart.   I don’t know if it’s because of the hearty feel and warmth of the soup or because ramen is delicious and easy to make.  Whatever the reason, it normally my go to snack in the middle of the night.

The reason I choose this noodle soup for my late-night snack is because of its flavor and lack of hot spices.  Normally, most ramen are mild to hot in spice.  This one (at least to me), is very mild.  I wouldn’t even call it “mild”.  It’s perfect if you don’t want to get heartburn in the middle of the night and wanted to eat noodle soup.  The Nongshim Soon Noodle Soup has a nice strong rich flavor with a nice noodle consistency.  Of course, if you leave your noodles out too long, it won’t have that texture.  But when eaten right away, it’s perfect.

Would I buy this again?

Yes!  I actually have a couple of cases at home, so I would never run out.  It really is the perfect late-night snack that makes my heart and tummy happy.

beautiFriday: TONYMOLY I’m REAL Green Tea Mask Sheet

By | beautiFRIDAY, Beauty | No Comments

Written by Ji | 14 July 2017

On today’s BeautiFriday adventure, I tried out TONYMOLY I’m Real Green Tea Mask Sheet. I love TONYMOLY face mask and when I received this item from my monthly Ipsy subscription I was completely excited. I received two types of TONYMOLY mask sheets from Ipsy and I can’t wait to try them both. Lately, due to the weather, I have been using a face mask every day to keep my face bright and moisturized.

After prepping my face for the face mask, I tore open the package. I love the scent of this mask. It has a nice light green tea scent with hints of a floral fragrance. It is very lightly scented; I barely noticed it while I kept the mask on my face for 30 minutes. This mask is thicker than some of the other mask I have tried. I didn’t have to be too delicate trying to unfold the one-piece mask. It was thick enough where I could easily unfold it. Which is a plus, because I have torn a few mask sheets trying to unfold them. I spent a good few minutes trying to extract every last drop of the product from the packaging, and carefully applied to my arms and hands. Normally, with other brands, I could apply it on my legs and feet as well as my upper body. So that was a little disappointing. Maybe because the mask is thicker, it absorbed more of the product.

After 30 minutes, I squeezed what I could off the mask, and applied what I could to by face and neck. My face felt hydrated, smooth and my complexion also looked healthier. But the mask barely lasted 30 minutes. Around 20 minutes, the mask started to feel a bit dry. But I am not sure if that an issue with the mask or because the 90 degree weather is drying it out.

Would I buy this again?

Maybe. I did love the scent, the thickness and how well it hydrated my face. But with the variety of face mask out there with the similar price, you could get more for your money. I do have another TONYMOLY mask from my Ipsy bag, stay tune for the next BeautiFriday article and see if I change my mind.

Snack Sunday: Lotte Sand Cookie

Written by Ji | 09 July 2017

Snack Sunday: Lotte Sand CookieFor today’s Snack Sunday adventure, I decided to stay home and hide from the heat.  It’s the perfect day for a KDrama marathon, filled with snacks and a cold drink.  On today’s adventure, I tried out Lotte’s Sand cookie.  These reminded me of cookies my grandma gave to us when we were younger.  It’s similar to an Oreo, but it’s heavier on the cookie side.  Which makes it perfect for dunking into milk.

Snack Sunday: Lotte Sand Cookie

When I opened the box, there were 2 small packages with 6 cookies in each bag.  You all know by now that I love individually wrapped snacks and give extra points just for its packaging.   These cookies really do taste like an Oreo but with much less crème.  But that doesn’t really bother me.  The cookie itself has a nice cocoa taste.  The cookie isn’t too sweet, but it still had a dessert feel to it.  I would recommend this cookie to anyone with or without a sweet tooth.

Would I buy this again?

Yes, I would.  This is a perfect portable snack that has a nice crunchy cookie texture with a semi sweet cocoa taste.

Snack Sunday: Haioreum Aloe Vera Mango

On today’s Snack Sunday adventure, I tried out the Haioreum Aloe Vera mango drink.  I’ve been trying to find ways to cool myself down in this scorching weather.  While water is always the best choice in hydration and health, sometimes I want something with a little bit of flavor.  While I was out doing my bi weekly shopping, I stood in front of the cold beverages and debated on my choices.  As I was scanning the shelve, I saw the word mango.  I didn’t need to read anything more, I was sold at mango.  If you are a frequent reader of Snack Sunday, you know it doesn’t take much to sell me anything.

I twisted off the cap and took my first sip of the mango drink in my car.  Normally in this heat, I would have chugged whatever drink I have to keep myself hydrated and cool.  But this drink had texture.  I paused for a second and looked at the container.  I gave it a small shake and saw something moving around.  I gave it another taste, this time more precaution.  It’s similar in taste and texture with lychee jelly.  Which would explain why this drink was quite sweet.  If you don’t have a sweet tooth like mine, this drink is not for you.  The aftertaste is a little bothersome.  It has that artificial taste that lingers and it left a weird taste in my mouth.  But, I did find this drink refreshing and perfect for hot weather.

Would I buy this again?

Yes, I would.  While I did have issues with the after taste, I really did enjoy drinking this refreshing drink.  The super sweet mango flavor did the trick for this sweltering summer day.
