Snack Sunday: Orion Aisyeo Candy

On today’s Snack Sunday adventure, I tried out Orion Aisyeo Candy.  My packaging may be a little beat up, but I do like the packaging.  It’s cute, simple and gets to the point.  Just by looking at the box, you can tell this is going to be a sour candy.  The best part, the individually wrapped treat.  We all know, I love most snacks that are easy to carry.  Also, I was expecting this to be a hard candy but as I was smelling the product, I noticed it was easy for me to squish it.  I popped one into my mouth and for some reason, I just started chewing the treat.  Big mistake.  The sourness consumed my mouth.  But as quickly as it hit me, the sourness dissipated within a few seconds.  The aftertaste and acidity lingered for a few more seconds but it was not as strong.  And when it all ended, for some reason, I found myself opening another packet and tossing another one into my mouth.  Apparently, I like to make sour faces in public because I had no shame snacking on these on a park bench.  When the sourness became too much for me, I just swallowed the candy instead of keeping it in my mouth.  I kept trying to break my record to see how long I would last, but I couldn’t handle more than a few seconds.

Would I buy this again?

Maybe, if I wanted a sour treat or if I wanted to compete with some friends on who can last the longest.  The sour apple candy is perfect for those who love that tarte sour taste or for those who like friendly competitions between friends.

beautiFRIDAY: Dr. Jart + Ceramidin Lipair Tint

Before I start, I just wanted to say thank you to Dee for writing the past few articles for me.  She did an awesome job on both Snack Sunday and BeautiFriday.  I don’t know about you, but she convinced me to pick up a few new items to try out.

I have a confession to make.  I have not been doing my normal skin care routine.  I know, shocking.  Especially since it’s been my routine for many years now.  But sometimes life throws you a curveball, that hits you in the chest and knocks you out.  It was hard to get back to my routine since I neglected it for a couple of weeks, and face was undeniably showing signs of dryness.  As I sat in front of the mirror, trying to figure out where I desperately needed the most attention, I remembered that I was already in the middle of reviewing Dr. Jart+ Ceramidin Lipair Tint.

beautiFRIDAY: Dr. Jart + Ceramidin Lipair Tint

Dr. Jart+ Ceramidin Lipair Tint is very similar to the Ceramidin Lipair.  Except, this one has a nice coral tint.  This specific tint is for dry and chapped lips and the directions say to “apply to lips as often as desired to moisturize and nourish.”  Which is a great concept, because by the time you need to reapply, you touch up your fading lip color.  This Lipair Tint, has no scent or flavor, which is good for those who are sensitive to smells.  I do like the color it produces on my lips, I think it’s a great color all year round.  I do feel that after I apply it repeatedly, it does become brighter.  When I first started using this product, I was unsure if it was working.  It didn’t really soften my lips, but it kept it moisturized.  After using it for a couple of weeks, I did notice a difference.  It feels like my lips were dry, but I think that has to do with the color.  I think what I feel is the color setting.  But my lips were certainly not dry.  After removing the tint, my lips do feel soft and smooth.  Which is nice because winter makes my lips look terrible.

Would I buy this again?

Yes.  But I feel like I would prefer the non-color one.  Only because I had to reapply this product a lot.  Like most chapsticks or lip balms, you have to repeatedly apply all day long.  At some point during the day, my lip shade is a little to bright for my taste.  I feel like this product would be perfect for a day adventure or for spring or summer.  For winter, I like my lips with a little color but not too bright.

Snack Sunday: Wang Korea’s Korean Barley Cracker

Written by Ji | 04 February 2018

On today’s Snack Sunday adventure, I tried out Wang Korea’s Korean Barley Cracker (also known as hardtack).  I’m feeling a bit under the weather, and these crackers were the only thing I could keep down.  But if we are being honest, hardtack is one of my favorite snacks.  Why? I’m not sure, it’s simple to make and doesn’t have a ton of flavor but they are filling and addicting to eat.
These hardtacks hit the spot perfectly.  It had that simple hardtack taste with a light barley flavor.  It had a medium crunch and was easy to chew.  Any snack that doesn’t leave a lingering aftertaste earns extra points in my book.
Would I buy these again?
Yes, I would.  But I would like to try the other brands out there too.  You can’t really mess up hardtack, unless you really try.  But I am curious how other brands might be different from this one.

KMUSIC: January Spotlight

Written by Ji | 30 January 2018

The January comeback songs were full of longing, soul and heartbreak. I must admit, listening to them made my heart ache a bit but luckily there were some songs that lifted my spirit. Here are a list of comebacks that made my list for January KMUSIC Spotlight.

The first group on my list is Block B with their single, “Don’t Leave”. I love when Block B comes out with ballads. They are able to express such emotional words so perfectly with their vocals. The mix of their voices plus their beautifully done music video sets them apart from the rest of the contenders this month.

The next group is Mamamoo with their single, “Paint Me”. Mamamoo usually comes out with the same type of music, but this one had a different type of vibe. It was a different type of powerful and soulful that we normally hear from them. This song was strong and full symbolism. Each color represented a new emotion, a feeling, an expression. It was a simple but well done video that made a big impact on me.

I have listed two music videos for N. Flying, “Hot Potato”. This song brought me back to a happy state, especially their dance video. I am solely putting this on the list, because this song is awesome. Seriously, watch it. You welcome.

And lastly, Jonghyun “ Shinin”. I know, this is completely bias. He is after all my favorite in SHINEE. I always loved his voice and his ability to make music that speaks to me. (May he his soul rest in peace).

This month, like the past few month was filled with amazing comebacks from so many people groups. Here are some honorable mentions that I need to be mentioned.

Red Velvet “Bad Boy”. After watching countless videos of heartbreak and regret, this song had a different vibe of seduction and want. The beat caught my attention and the catchy chorus was stuck in my head for a few hours.

The next honorable mention goes to INFINITE, “Tell me”. By the time I got to the chorus I was hooked. INFINITE did not disappoint with their new song and their impressive dance moves.

I honestly wish I could add at least 10 more songs to this list. From Sunmi, Oh My Girl, iKON, 5TION, Kim Kyu Jong of SS501, Suzy, and many others. There were so many strong comebacks, it was hard to choose. Especially since so many of them are on my list of groups that I love to watch and listen too.

Did your favorite January comeback make the list? Let us know which groups made the spotlight for you!

beautiFRIDAY: Make P:rem Peel me. Radiance Peeling Sleeping Pack

Written by Dee | 26 January 2018

beautiFRIDAY: Make P:rem Peel me. Radiance Peeling Sleeping PackI have a pretty low maintenance skincare routine but I find that with the cooler temperature, my face occasionally needs some additional hydration that allows me to try out new products. On today’s beautiFRIDAY adventure, I tried out Make P:rem Peel me. Radiance Peeling Sleeping Pack.

This is my first experience with a sleeping mask. Basically, a sleeping mask comes at the end of your nightly skincare routine, a cream or gel that you put on right before you go to sleep that locks in the all the moisture from the previous steps that you’ve done.

The Make P:rem Radiance Peeling Sleeping Pack is a gel-type moisturizer and sleeping cream that works overnight to smooth, soothe, and deeply hydrating your skin. Then you rinse it off in the morning. The smell of the Sleeping Pack is clean and fresh. When you initially put the blue gel on it goes on smooth but thick and it feels cool. I did wait a bit for it to start absorbing before going to lay down. Surprisingly, it didn’t stick to my pillows. After I washed it off in the morning, my skin felt soft, rejuvenated and plump.

beautiFRIDAY: Make P:rem Peel me. Radiance Peeling Sleeping Pack

Would I buy this again?

Yes, I would because the next morning after I washed it off my face felt really soft and hydrated. I also noticed that the longer I use it that my skin feels smoother and my skin looks brighter.  I like that the Make P:rem Peel me. Radiance Peeling Sleeping Pack is gentle on my sensitive skin and yet clears up any potential break outs brewing as well as any associated redness.

Snack Sunday: Orion Choco Pie Green Tea Matcha Latte

For today’s Snack Sunday  adventure, I tried out Orion Choco Pie Green Tea Matcha Latte flavor. These were an unexpected second present from my Reddit Secret Santa. Apparently, the USPS had delivered originally to the wrong address and a kind person returned them to the post office so they arrived after Christmas for me.  They come 12 Choco Pies individually wrapped in a box with love.

The flavor of these Choco pies is actually matcha latte, so it a milky matcha green tea flavor. The chocolate was good. The green tea cake inside was fresh and had a mild green tea flavor, it could have been stronger. Overall, it worked quite well together to where it isn’t as sweet as the original Choco Pie.

Bonus: If you microwave the  Green Tea Choco Pie for 10-20 seconds, it turns into a lovely Matcha flavored s’mores.

Would I buy this again?

Yes, I would. I generally find the original Choco Pies too sweet, while the the matcha flavor isn’t all that strong in this one it does counter balance the chocolate and marshmallow enough for me actual enjoy eating this.

beautiFRIDAY: Olive Young’s The R U Real Branch?

On the last beautiFRIDAY article, I reviewed Olive Young’s The R U Real Poppy face mask.  On this week’s beautiFRIDAY adventure, I tried out The R U Real Branch? face mask from Olive Young.  I wanted to review these masks back to back since they both are from the adorable movie “Trolls”.  These masks are pretty much identical in texture, had the same amount of serum and had that creepy but semi cute troll face pattern.

The Branch mask is made to help reduce wrinkles, which we all know, is my favorite type of mask.  I didn’t expect much from this mask, considering I felt like this was more for fun and amusement and to possibly scare other people with your new troll face.  But I was impressed with the results.  As always, most facemask leave behind that “facemask glow” but I did notice an improvement to my pores.  The mask was lightly scented, but for some reason, I couldn’t figure out the scent.  But it was nice and refreshing.

Would I buy this again?

Yes!  I know, you are probably as shocked as I am.  While I do have mask that help my pores, I was intrigued with the results this mask produce.  So much so, I think I’m going to buy a few and see how well it helps with reducing wrinkles.  Of course, this will take a few months to figure out, but when I figure out the results, I will update you.

Have you tried this mask?  Which Olive Young Troll mask was your favorite?

Snack Sunday: CW Scorched Rice Candy

Snack Sunday: CW Scorched Rice Candy

I ended last year with a cold and for some reason, I still have it.  Luckily, the only thing bothering me is my dry throat.  I was with my cousin a few days ago, and she handed me some sort of hard candy.  She told me, she must be getting old since she’s starting to pass out hard candy as a treat.  She laughed and told me she didn’t have any lozenges but she did have something that might help.  Apparently, any hard candy or even a lollipop will help with my dry throat.

For today’s Snack Sunday surprise adventure, I tried out CW Scorched Rice Candy.  I didn’t read or ask what flavor.  I was desperate to alleviate my issue and would have tried anything. Honestly, I was pleasantly surprised by this snack.  While I am grateful it did help my problem, I was more interested in the flavor.  As my cousin stared at me, knowing perfectly well it was going to catch me off guard.  I just looked her and raised my eyebrows.  She just stood there and nodded.  She didn’t have to tell me the flavor, I knew instantly what it was.  This candy tasted just like scorched rice.  I love scorched rice.  I love it as a snack.  I love it as a meal and now I love it as a candy.  Not only did this snack have a flavor I loved, it also had a bit of sweetness to it.  The flavor never dissipated from the delicious snack.  It lasted until the very end.  I was sad when I finished it, but thankfully my cousin handed me a few to take home.

Would I buy this again?

Yes, I would!!!  But it’s not at my local store, I know, I tried.  So, over the weekend, I will be checking out all stores within my county.  I just love the slight sweet flavor of the scorched rice.  It makes me happy knowing I can enjoy this treat anytime without having to turn on the stove.

KMusic: December Spotlight

Written by Ji | 30 December 2017

I can’t believe another month has come and gone and that we were blessed with new music and comebacks from such amazing groups.  This month was filled with holiday music and the perfect soothing tunes for the colder weather.  Here are my December KMusic Spotlight (I took the liberty to add a few holiday songs.  After all, what’s December without some holiday cheer).

My first holiday song spotlight goes to Twice – “Merry & Happy”.

I love traditional holiday music.  It makes me happy and my mood always brightens whenever I hear upbeat music.  This song fits that category.  It has an up-tempo beat filled with catchy lyrics mixed with their cherry persona, makes one heck of track.

My next holiday song spotlight goes to Starship- “Christmas Day.”

In my opinion Starship always come out with happy holiday music.  This song has a nice warm beat to keep you smiling through the cold winter season.

December isn’t just about festive holiday music, we also had some great comebacks from Rain, Zion.T, Day 6 and many others.

The first December comeback spotlight goes to XAVII – “Come & Go.”

While I was trying to relax and enjoy some quiet time, I had this song on repeat.  It’s soothing, soulful and his flow is on point.

My next December comeback spotlight goes to Twice-  “Heart Shaker”

I know, they were added “twice”, but I really liked this song.  After listening and watching all the comebacks, I was getting emotional from all the sad winter songs and this song just lifted up my spirits.

My last song is EXO- “Universe”.

It’s a nice soft ballad with a beautiful piano medley.  The song goes straight for the heart with it’s both touching and sad lyrics.

Honorable Mentions

Day 6- “I like you”

I think this is one of the best Day 6 songs.  I love vibe, the music arrangement and the lyrics.  I would of made this song a spotlight, but since they have been releasing songs every month, I decided to add them to this section.

YongJin Kim(김용진) – “Alt+F4” (With 정동수(ARKAY))

This song just needs to be heard.  The music video wasn’t filled with anything special but the song itself stands on its own.  It’s not a slow winter tune but has a nice mellow fun beat.

BUMZU –“ I’m Good”(아무렇지 않아) (Feat. Sik-K)

I’m really feeling this song at the moment.  I’m not going through a break up, but the song has a nice smooth beat that make everything feel like it’s going to be ok.  You can’t help but bob your head to the amazing beat

Did your favorite December comeback make the list?  Let us know which groups made the spotlight for you!

Special note from me:

Ummm, don’t hate me but I had too… only because I’m a little, slightly bias.  Here is the SM Station release of a group you may have heard of.  I’m sorry, I just had to add them.  But it’s on the very bottom and technically not on the list, but I can’t help it.  Not only was I loving the funny yet simple music video, I was also dancing their very simple dance.  Do I even have to say their name?

You’re welcome!

beautiFRIDAY: Olive Young: The R U REAL Poppy?

beautiFRIDAY: Olive Young: The R U REAL Poppy?

Now that Christmas is over, I needed some me time and do a little selfcare.  I’ve been lacking on my skincare routine due to my schedule but now that the rush is over, I’m going to do a mini at home spa treatment.  After prepping my face, I tore open a face mask and enjoyed a nice quiet 20 minute break.  On today’s BeautiFRIDAY adventure, I tried out Olive Young’s The R U REAL Poppy?

According to the back of the product, this will moisturize and brighten my face.  The mask has a nice light floral scent and a decent amount of serum in the packet.  The mask itself is comical.  I couldn’t help but laugh when I saw what I looked like.  I wouldn’t say I looked like Poppy but you know that’s the look it was going for.  I got to “wear” her floral crown and have similar facial features as the loveable troll character.  After 20 minutes, I took off the mask and patted the extra serum onto my face and use all the left-over serum on my arms and legs.  As I have said before, after most face mask, my face had a nice glow that lasted a few hours after I took off the product.

Would I buy this again?

Probably not.  Why?  The product is a good face mask that did the job, but unless it was on sale, mask with animal or movie prints are just not my thing.  I guess I do get embarrassed occasionally.  Which I know is weird to hear from a girl who wears a face mask in public but these masks will only be worn at home, when no one is there.
