Snack Sunday: Annie Chun’s Seaweed Crisps Gochujang flavored

Today is the perfect day for a picnic.  Since the weather is cooler, I decided to take some time “me” time and enjoy a quick getaway at my local park.  It’s one of the best places to enjoy some peace and quiet with a gorgeous view of nature.  For today’s Snack Sunday adventure, I tried out Annie Chun’s Seaweed Crisps Gochujang flavored.  I thought a nice sweet and spicy snack with my pumpkin spice latte would be perfect snack for this fall type weather.

When I got to the park, I found a nice big tree, laid out my blanket, sat down and opened my snack.  Normally, I would read a few chapters of a book first, but I didn’t want my hot drink to get too cool.  What I love most about seaweed crisps is the nice crunchy crisp bite and this snack did not disappoint me.  From the start, it had the texture and crunch that is associated with seaweed crisps.  The gochujang flavor is on point.  The snack starts off sweet but you can feel a bit of heat after a few seconds.  I don’t think this snack is too spicy, but I have a high tolerance.  So, if you can’t handle the heat, I would stay away from this snack.  But I would recommend this snack even if you had a low tolerance.  Only because it has a nice bold and sweet flavored.

Would I buy this again?

Yes, I would.  I love seaweed crisp and I don’t think there’s a flavor I don’t like.  It’s a great low-calorie snack with a crisp texture with sweet and spicy flavor.  It’s everything I love.  Now, if they made this bag resealable or maybe a bit smaller.  This would be one of my go to snacks.

Snack Sunday: Nongshim Jjol Byeong Snack

On today’s Snack Sunday adventure, I tried out Nongshim Jjol Byeong snack.  It’s been a crazy week and this weekend was jam packed with family, work and life events.  I needed something small and easy to carry around to munch on.  Since I was short on time, I randomly grabbed the smallest snack bag I could find and tossed it into my tote bag.

When I finally had the chance to take a moment to eat, I quickly opened the bag and took my first bite.  It has a BBQ seasoning flavor and a medium crunch.  It’s not as crunchy as I thought it would be, like the other dried ramen snacks.  But that’s because I like my ramen snacks crunchy.  After a few chews, the once solid circular snack turns into a powdery grainy texture, which really surprised me.  But nothing surprised me more than the strong BBQ seasoning aftertaste it left behind.

Would I buy this again?

No, I would not.  I did not like when the snack crumbled into a mushy grainy texture after a few chews and that aftertaste left me queasy.  It’s days like this I’m glad I have an extra toothbrush and toothpaste in my bag because the aftertaste was just unpleasant.

Snack Sunday: LOTTE Ice Yogurt

Snack Sunday: LOTTE Ice Yogurt

Before we start our Snack Sunday adventure together, I wanted to say thank you to Dee for writing an amazing article on HAITAI Roly Poly Green Tea Latte.    I love those types of snacks, especially with coffee.

Now, I don’t know about you but where I am from, there is a major heat wave going on.  I am doing everything I can to stay cool and hydrated.  On today’s Snack Sunday adventure, I tried out LOTTE Ice Yogurt.  I have seen many actors and idols cooling themselves off with this yummy treat and I was super excited when I found some at my local market.   By the time I checked out of the store and walked to my car, the frozen treat already turned into a slushie.

The Ice Yogurt has a tart taste but it’s not too sour.  You can tell they added a bit of sweetener to the yogurt, which I appreciated.  When I normally eat yogurt, I always add a little honey or fruit to suit my taste buds.  This icy treat is very similar to LOTTE yogurt drink but it does have a lighter taste.  But it’s pretty close to the original.

Would I buy this again?

Maybe.  Don’t get me wrong, I do love the flavor and the texture of the snack.  But if I eat this snack often, my face would break out.  Milk and I have a love and hate relationship.  If I didn’t have that issue, I would be more inclined to buy this product.  I would love the icy treat to be more sweeter, but if I’m on the go, this snack is perfect and only 125 calories.

Snack Sunday: HAITAI Roly Poly Green Tea Latte

Hello DKI family, I’m Dee. I’m covering for Ji on today’s Snack Sunday adventure as we try out HAITAI Roly Poly Green Tea Latte. I personally love nearly all things green tea, so I had been looking forward to this. I wasted no time, and ripped the box opened and found six individual packs of two cookies.

Snack Sunday: HAITAI Roly Poly Green Tea Latte

My first impression was of the sweet taste of the green tea and the crispiness of the cookie. I didn’t really notice any milk flavor for the latte aspect of it. If you’re looking for more a latte flavor and less green tea, this perhaps isn’t it. The more you eat it the more the green tea taste like a sweetened Matcha Green tea. If you love green tea, I would recommend this snack to you.

Would I buy this again?

Yes, I would. The taste of green tea is just right and the  six individual packs in a box make it an easy and small snack to take a pack with me when I’m on the go.

Snack Sunday: Big Caramel Corn Choco

Snack Sunday: Big Caramel Corn Choco

Chocolate!  I am having a strong chocolate craving, and for some reason my store is out of Ghana chocolate and the Chew & Dessert I tried last week.  I searched everywhere in the store and I could not find any pure chocolate.  I decided that I would settle, and just pick anything that had the words chocolate on it.  On today’s Snack Sunday adventure, I tried out Big Caramel Corn Choco.

As soon as I got to my car I opened the bag, I could already smell the chocolate.  The product smelled sweet, chocolatey, and just smelt delicious.  Someone at that factory needs to bag this scent because I want to use it as a body spray.  As awesome as the scent was, the flavor was even better.  It had a nice chocolate flavor with a light drizzle of caramel.  It kind of taste like Choco Puffs, but better, sweeter and crunchier.  I wish I had a glass of milk, so I could test out that theory, but sadly I do not.  I do wish the puffs were smaller, as it was hard to put a whole puff into my mouth.  But I have nothing bad to say about this product.  I kind of want to do an article on what you can do with this product.  Like make it a cereal, use it as an ice cream topping, or maybe add this on top of brownies.   It’s been awhile where I could fully say loved a product, and this one is hands down one of the best snacks I had this year.  If you have a major sweet tooth like me, this snack is for you.

Would I buy this again?

Yes, times a million.  I was serious about writing an article on how to use this product to improve other desserts.  This snack was super sweet.  It has a nice rich chocolate flavor with a light caramel taste.  Perfect for any chocolate lover.

Snack Sunday: CHEW & Dessert – Dark Apple Chocolate

Snack Sunday: CHEW & Dessert – Dark Apple Chocolate

As I was lazily walking around my local market, killing time, waiting for my food.  I saw something in the corner of my eye.  I took a second to look around me, before I turned my cart around and grabbed a small brown bag and went to the next aisle.  Why was I being so sneaky?  Because I was with a few friends and there was only one bag left on the shelf.  And I didn’t want to share.  I grabbed a few other items and quickly checked out.  I was able to have a quick lunch with them and hide my snack without getting caught.

For today’s Snack Sunday adventure, I tried out CHEW & Dessert Dark Apple Chocolate.  I liked their CHEW & Real products, so when I saw this, I had high hopes.  I wasted no time, and ripped the bag opened. The aromatic scent was amazing.  The texture was soft and chewy.  And the flavor was sweet, sour and little bitter from the dark chocolate.  If you love dark chocolate, I would recommend this snack to you.  I was a little surprised by the sourness since the pictured showed a red apple instead of a green apple (which are known to be sour).  But the sourness quickly dissipated and the sweetness kicked in.

Would I buy this again?

Yes, I would.  Maybe not a scorching summer day.  Because melted chocolate can get a bit messy.  But overall, I am very pleased with the dried apple covered in dark chocolate.  It’s exactly what I would expect from this brand.  A flavor true to their word.

Snack Sunday: SEOJU ICE JU Strawberry Yogurt

Written by Ji | 06 July 2017

It’s a hot and humid 100-degree weather where I am, and I needed many things to cool me down.  Besides the pool, tons of ice water, and a fan, I also needed some sort of ice cream/popsicle.  For today’s Snack Sunday adventure, I tried out SEOJU ICE JU Strawberry Yogurt.

SEOJU ICE JU was deliciously sweet and milky.  The product had very little strawberries pieces.  By pieces, I mean little slivers of strawberries.  Just enough where you can see red bits, but not enough where you had to chew the strawberries.  The texture is similar to any yogurt ice cream but it has a nice flavor.  It’s more of a milky yogurt tasting treat with hint of strawberry.  Which I am find with, because I love yogurt ice cream.

Would I buy this again?

Yes, I would.  This yummy treat will definitely be part of my summer cool down.  With the delicious yogurt flavor and refreshing taste, this snack will put a smile on anyone’s face.

Snack Sunday: NONGSHIM Banana Kick Banana Snack

Written by Ji | 30 July 2017

Snack Sunday: NONGSHIM Banana Kick Banana SnackDuring a recent VLIVE chat (last week), CROSS GENE members Kim Sangmin and Kim Yongseok discussed group activities while they ate snacks.  Yongseok was very careful not to show the front of the bag, but judging by the back, it is NONGSHIM Banana Kick Banana Snack.  I don’t have the exact one he is holding, but I do have the one above.  I bought a few different snacks from my local market and was super excited to try a snack the maknae of CROSS GENE was eating.  As a CANDY (CROSS GENE fanclub), I love to try anything my loveable boys promote or indirectly promote.

Snack Sunday: NONGSHIM Banana Kick Banana SnackI opened the bag and was immediately hit with a strong banana scent.  If you love bananas, you will love this.  This product smelled like a fresh ripped banana.  I took a moment to enjoy the delicious scent and hoped this product taste as good as it smells.  I was pleasantly surprised by the texture and taste. This sweet snack had the texture of Cheetos Puffs with a solid banana taste.  I felt like I was eating a dehydrated banana. The outside of the puff had a light sweet glaze on the product that gave the product a nice sugary kick.

Would I buy this again?

Yes, I would.  This super sweet banana puff is a mix between a snack and dessert.  Either way, I loved the texture and taste.  If I had ice cream, I would love to try to use this snack as a topping or if I’m feeling a bit gluttonous, I would use it as a spoon.

Snack Sunday: Nongshim Shin Ramyun Noodle Soup, Gourmet Spicy

Snack Sunday: Nongshim Shin Ramyun Noodle Soup, Gourmet Spicy

On today’s Snack Sunday adventure, I tried out Nongshim Shin Ramyun Noodle Soup, Gourmet Spicy.  Last week, I reviewed my favorite late night snack; this week I will be reviewing my favorite ramen to help me get over a cold.  I’ve been working non-stop with long hours on a project and now that it’s finally over, my body has officially shut down.  I’m exhausted, weak and stuffy.  My remedy for getting well, is to have a little R&R and some spicy food.

I love Nongshim instant noodles.  They are one of my favorite brands.  I love the thickness of their noodles and their spices always hit the spot.  This product has the best heat to make me sweat just a little where it helps me breathe again.   If you can’t handle spicy, I would avoid this product.  If you only use half the spice packaging, you are truly missing out on the full bold spicy flavor that this product has to offers.

Would I buy this again?

Yes, I would.  Nongshim Shin Ramyun Noodle Soup has a strong, bold spicy flavor with the perfect kick to make this ramyun one of my favorite snacks.

Snack Sunday: Nongshim Soon Noodle Soup (Veggie)

I have been working on a project the last few weeks and it has been keeping me busy.  Sometimes I forget to eat or I eat way past midnight.  For today’s Snack Sunday adventure, I dedicated it to one of my favorite late-night snacks, Nongshim Soon Noodle Soup.  There is something about eating ramen at night that brings joy to my heart.   I don’t know if it’s because of the hearty feel and warmth of the soup or because ramen is delicious and easy to make.  Whatever the reason, it normally my go to snack in the middle of the night.

The reason I choose this noodle soup for my late-night snack is because of its flavor and lack of hot spices.  Normally, most ramen are mild to hot in spice.  This one (at least to me), is very mild.  I wouldn’t even call it “mild”.  It’s perfect if you don’t want to get heartburn in the middle of the night and wanted to eat noodle soup.  The Nongshim Soon Noodle Soup has a nice strong rich flavor with a nice noodle consistency.  Of course, if you leave your noodles out too long, it won’t have that texture.  But when eaten right away, it’s perfect.

Would I buy this again?

Yes!  I actually have a couple of cases at home, so I would never run out.  It really is the perfect late-night snack that makes my heart and tummy happy.
